Why I built it
For years I wanted one simple URL I could open to see the daily workout from crossfit.com. So I wrote a small one in Python to do exactly that.
How it works
A Python function on AWS Lambda fetches the day's workout from crossfit.com, pulls out the parts that matter, and returns them as a small JSON document. The function is exposed through a Lambda function URL, which gives it a public HTTPS endpoint without needing API Gateway in front of it. This site calls that URL and renders the workout line by line.
Simple and efficient, which is what I wanted. It costs close to nothing to run, since Lambda only bills when someone actually opens the page.
What's next
There is still work that could be done. The obvious next step is storing every workout as it comes in, so you could look up past workouts by date or filter them by things like intensity.
